We have already had a few questions about school supply lists for next fall! Please review the information posted to our website under Parent Resources.
Another fantastic year is over! PAC will not be sending emails again until next fall. Be sure to watch our Facebook feed and website for news over the summer, or send us a note at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Don't forget to save the date too: Wed, Sept 14 - Welcome Back Ice Cream Social!
Congrats! The Queen Mary Green Team was recently awarded a Living City grant from the City of North Vancouver. The funds are being used to create a Walk n' Roll Club to support students in transitioning to more active modes of transportation to commute to school and around the community.
This effort is getting started with a t-shirt! A letter recently went home asking students to help design a logo for the Walk n' Roll Club - something with a simple graphic design with bold, black lines. Submissions should be given to the office by Friday, June 24th. Time to get those imaginations going!
Join us for FREE fun games, activities, food and drink in the gym! All ages are welcome to come and enjoy the night.
While you are here, visit the Monster Book Fair to stock up for summer reading. Book Fair purchases will support materials for the library and our classrooms.
This week students can start creating Mystery Jars! Just fill a glass jar with small treats and treasures that you don't need anymore, then decorate the jar as you please. It's a fun way to reduce, reuse and recycle! Simply use a jar from home or pick one up in the library.
Please give completed jars to the office by June 10 for display at the Family BBQ. For just $1 or $2, students can take a different one home!
Do you like to bake? Well we need cupcakes for Family Fun Night! PAC is organizing a cupcake walk to giveaway the goodies. Send us a note if you can put together a dozen or so, email@example.com. We can help with the decorating too!
After more than 11 years, the Scholastic Book Fair is returning to Queen Mary!
We invite your entire family to participate by purchasing the latest and greatest in children’s books. Your support is a key part of helping us obtain new books and resources for our library and classrooms. With your involvement, we can inspire students to practice reading and read more often too!
You will find hundreds of quality books at our Book Fair with a wide assortment for all reading levels. Starting next week, there will also be contests for students to win books for themselves and their classrooms.
If you can not visit during the day, PAC is also hosting a FREE Family Fun Night during which time the Book Fair will also be open. Looking forward to seeing you there!
Those Saltwater Singers are your kids! Queen Mary students have been preparing for the Rock the Salish Sea Concert, which will be a community-wide event held at Centennial Theatre on May 19 at 7pm. The purpose of the tour is to raise awareness and appreciation for our inland ocean, its ecosystem and wildlife. More information about the music in residence program can be found here.
Use this form to get your tickets at the school office or go directly to Centennial Theatre, located at 2300 Lonsdale Ave.
To our Queen Mary families,
The Grade 7 students of Queen Mary Community School will be presenting their first annual PYP Exhibition on Wednesday, May 11th from 5:30-7:00 pm. Students have established a central idea and lines of inquiry, under the transdisciplinary theme, How The World Works. Please see the invite (PDF).
Although we appreciate how busy you all are at this time of year, we would like to invite you as we celebrate and share their explorations. Please join us for a brief introduction in the library, followed by student presentations that will be taking place in different locations around the school.
If you are able to make it please let me know. We hope to see many of you then!
