After a break in March, our next General PAC Meeting is set for Monday, April 3. We have lots of event announcements, so don't miss out! Download a PDF copy of the meeting notice here.
The return to school safety blitz is to create school zone safety awareness. The Police, By-law officers, City of North Vancouver staff, ICBC and HASTe will be coming to talk to parents, students and drivers within the school zone about:
Thank you to the students and families who participated in the “Think of Me” campaign to remind drivers to slow down and don’t drive distracted in school zones.
Join in the festivities at the front of the school on Monday, March 27 after school!
It is finally here, the minutes for our General Meeting that took place on Monday, February 20. Thanks for being patient, and enjoy the read. Lots of good information about the new not-for-profit Quest Market in Lower Lonsdale!
Visit Quest's website to learn more about accessing their affordable food; the client referral form can be found here. Because the market is not open to the public, you must be referred (see form for valid referral agencies) to get a membership card. If you wait until after Spring Break, teachers and Principal/Vice Principal at Queen Mary can refer you!
Queen Mary PAC will be taking a break too, with maybe some occasional Facebook posts ("Like" us to stay current!). There will be no weekly event emails but you can still contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Lastly, don't forget that the deadline to order for Fun Lunch is Wednesday, March 22; Pizza & Popsicle Day is March 29.
For two weeks, Presentation House Gallery transformed into Gallery School, as part of an educational program designed in partnership with Beyond the Classroom and teachers Jenny Thayer and Kathryn Larsen.
Given behind-the-scenes access to this storied cultural institution, Queen Mary Elementary students learned about art-making, curation, local history from staff and invited speakers. For this hands-on immersion, they used the gallery as a classroom and studio from which to respond with writing and drawing. On their final day, they visited the site of the new Polygon Gallery on the North Vancouver waterfront where Director/Curator Reid Shier challenged the students to design an art gallery of their own.
The students' architectural drawings and models will be featured at the Presentation House Gallery this weekend on March 4 & 5 at 12:00-5:00 pm during the North Shore Art Crawl. Don't miss out!
