Given behind-the-scenes access to this storied cultural institution, Queen Mary Elementary students learned about art-making, curation, local history from staff and invited speakers. For this hands-on immersion, they used the gallery as a classroom and studio from which to respond with writing and drawing. On their final day, they visited the site of the new Polygon Gallery on the North Vancouver waterfront where Director/Curator Reid Shier challenged the students to design an art gallery of their own.
The students' architectural drawings and models will be featured at the Presentation House Gallery this weekend on March 4 & 5 at 12:00-5:00 pm during the North Shore Art Crawl. Don't miss out!
